2018 UGA Student Affairs Staff Survey

The UGA Student Affairs Staff Survey is the biennial opportunity for all full- and part-time UGA Student Affairs staff to reflect and offer feedback regarding their experiences, providing division leaders with an understanding of staff needs and professional fulfillment. The results are used to develop and refine staff development experiences that promote continued growth; address common concerns as possible; and consider strategies to enrich the UGA Student Affairs work environment.

An invitation to participate in the 2018 Staff Survey was sent to all Student Affairs full- and part-time staff on July 1, 2018. The anonymous online survey remained open through July 27, 2018, yielding a 49.5% response rate. This represents a 5.5 percentage-point increase in response from the first Staff Survey administration (2016). Three key areas of focus emerged from the 2018 administration of the Staff Survey: employee engagement, supervision, and leadership.

To address the 2018 findings, the division and its departments developed commitment plans around the three key areas of focus. Departments with four or more full-time employees developed department-specific commitment plans, yielding 41 commitments. All remaining departments formed a working group to identify 14 division-level commitments. As of January 17, 2020, eight of the division-level commitments have been addressed, one is in process, and the remaining five are in cue for action in Spring or Summer 2020.
